Coach Hughes has served as head coach of the Pirates for seven seasons. His men went 13-4-2 in 2023, earning the programs’ thirteenth division title, their eighteenth straight trip to the playoffs, anmd their sixth NWAC championship. Hughes, of London, England, initially returned to Peninsula College in 2015, a place where he played from 2010-2012, winning an NWAC championship in 2010 and capturing West Division titles both years. Coach Hughes has been named division coach of the year three times, and received recognition as the NWAC Coach of the Year in 2019 and 2023. Hughes has an Associate of Arts Degree from Peninsula College, a Bachelor’s Degree in English-Mass Communication from Adams State, and a Masters Degree in Instructional Design and Technology through American College of Education. He and his wife Kelsey reside in Sequim, Washington with their two young daughters, Millie and Willow.
